TI-84 Family of Calculators

All calculators below are approved for Algebra courses, SAT and ACT. Check your course or exam requirements to determine which model is right for you.

TI-84 Plus CE

The TI84Plus CE calculator with or without Python is very good.

  • If you want to program Python, then you may want to get the one with Python.
  • We will not use that feature in class, and you should not make programs for college courses without professor consent.
  • I have the emulator for this calculator. You will see this one during class.

TI-84 Plus (No CE)

TIPlus calculator has the same features, but they are not as easy to find.

  • As of July 2026 this is the only TI graphing calculator available on the Step up for Students Marketplace.
  • TI is aware of this and is working to add others.
  • This is not the calculator I recommend because it has more keypresses to get the same results. If you own this calculator, learn to use it. Do not purchase a new calculator right now.

TI30-Multiview

The Ti30- is the only calculator allowed on the College Algebra CLEP exam.

  • This may be the only calculator allowed (if any) in college courses starting in 2027.
  • It should cost less than $20. It is good to also learn how to use it.

TI-84 EVO

  • Ti just released a new EVOlutionary calculator.
  • I do NOT have emulation software for this calculator. During class the sequence of key presses will be a little different. Please have patience as I work through the sequence with the TI84-Plus CE buttons first.
  • It is a great calculator for students who prefer visual shortcuts.
